Chapter 3: Advance Features of MS Word

Learning Outcome:
By the end of the Chapter, students will be able to:
  Understand the basics of MS Word and its features.
  Learn how to find text in a document.
  Explore how to work with shapes and drawing tools in MS Word.
  Insert WordArt and pictures into a document.
  Understand Ink to Shape and Math Tools for digital wriing and
equaions.

Material Required:

  Computers/Laptops with MS Word installed, projector/smartboard for
demonstraion.
  Presentaion slides, worksheets, and printed handouts for learning
support.
  Notebook, pen/pencil, and printed images for hands-on aciviies.
  Stylus or digital pen for "Ink to Shape" and math tools pracice.

LESSON PLAN (PERIOD -WISE DISTRIBUTION OF COURSE)

Period Allotted (2 Theory + 2 Practical)

Theory 1:-

Introducion(30 Minutes):  Ask students if they have used MS Word
before and what they know about it.

  Explain that MS Word is a word-processing sotware used for typing,
formatting, and ediing documents.
  Show the MS Word interface (toolbar, ribbon, workspace).
Finding the Text:
  Explain why finding text is important (e.g., correcing mistakes,
searching for keywords).
  Demonstrate the Find opion (Ctrl + F) to search for words in a
document.
Working with Shapes:
  Explain how shapes are used to make documents visually appealing.
  Demonstrate how to insert a shape:
o  Go to Insert > Shapes
o  Choose and draw a shape
o  Change its colour, size, and border

Theory -2 (30 minutes):- 

Using Drawing Tools:
  Explain the Drawing Tools used for freehand drawings.
  Demonstrate how to use the Draw tab and draw with a mouse or
stylus.
Insering WordArt:
  Explain that WordArt is used for decoraive text.
  Show how to insert WordArt from Insert > WordArt.
Insering Pictures:
  Explain that pictures make documents more attracive.
  Demonstrate how to insert a picture from Insert > Pictures.
Ink to Shape & Math Tools:

  Explain that Ink to Shape converts hand-drawn shapes into perfect
shapes.
  Show how Math Tools help in wriing equaions neatly.

Teacher’s Tip: 

  Use visual demonstraions and hands-on pracice to help students
understand MS Word features.
  Simplify instrucions, relate topics to real-life examples, and encourage
interacive learning.
  Be paient, offer individual support, and allow students to explore
creaivity with Word Art and Shapes.
  End with a recap or student demonstraions to reinforce learning
effecively.

LAB ACTIVITIES 

Acivity 1: Finding the Text

Steps:
1.  Open an MS Word document with prewritten text.
2.  Press Ctrl + F to open the “Find” tool.
3.  Type a word (e.g., "computer") in the search box and observe how MS
Word highlights it.
4.  Replace a word using the Find & Replace opion.
Learning Outcome: Students will understand how to quickly locate and
modify text in a document.

Acivity 2: Working with Shapes

Steps:
1.  Open a new MS Word document.

2.  Click on Insert → Shapes and select a shape (e.g., rectangle, circle,
arrow).
3.  Resize, move, and rotate the shape.
4.  Change the shape’s colour using the Format tab.
Learning Outcome: Students will learn how to insert and customize shapes
